Canalside Health Care Centre, Bingley, 2010
Inscape creates an illusory opening onto the heavily carved rock shelf of ‘Druid’s Altar’ – an outcrop of gritstone rock and local viewpoint that overlooks the Yorkshire town of Bingley and the Aire Valley. The text that weaves across the walls of the health centre and into the image was derived from fragments of text developed during a creative writing workshop with members of the Bingley Harriers Athletics Club, undertaken during the consultation phase. The text describes the sense of well-being experienced whilst running across the moors and contrasts with the deeply carved graffiti which has been hewn from the stone.
